In January, average temperatures on the Côte d'Azur are unseasonably mild. Daytime highs
reach around 12°C (54°F), while nighttime lows drop to around 6°C (43°F). Inland areas can be
colder, especially at night.
Despite the winter season, the Côte d'Azur still benefits from good sunshine in January. There
is an average of 5 to 6 hours of sunshine per day. The days are shorter than in summer, but
there is more sunshine than in many other European regions at this time of year.
In January, the Côte d'Azur enters a calmer phase, far removed from the hustle and bustle of
summer. If there is less sunshine, mimosas cover the hills of the hinterland with thousands of yellow
flowers and fill the hills with a delicate perfume...
