Presentation title
Acupotomy Treatment for Knee Joint Disorders : Focus on Meniscus Injuries and Degenerative Arthritis

Scheduled
Day 3, 9:00

Presentation summary

Meniscus injuries accelerate the wear of articular cartilage, leading to early degenerative changes and long-term functional impairment. Studies indicate that more than 75% of symptomatic osteoarthritis patients have meniscus injuries.

In Western medicine, conservative treatments such as physical therapy and medication are typically recommended for 4-6 weeks for simple injuries or degenerative tears.

However, if symptoms persist and significantly impact quality of life, surgical interventions are considered. Nevertheless, surgery does not guarantee favorable outcomes and may result in postoperative complications, such as joint stiffness.

This study aims to report cases of acupotomy treatment as a conservative approach for patients with meniscus injuries and degenerative arthritis.
