Poster title
Healthcare Models in Spain That Include Acupuncture : A Challenge to Be Achieved
Presentation summary
In Spain, since the publication of the “Plan for Pseudosciences and Pseudo therapies (2018),” acupuncture hasbeen increasingly attacked and removed from teaching in faculties, primary care centers, and hospitals. Therefusal of the Medical College Organization (OMC) to analyze the situation, as well as the available scientific evidence, and to identify the centers where it is practiced in the Western world has been a constant.
The plan promised to analyze this scientific evidence by expert committees and officially publish the results to provide citizens with safe care. We are still waiting in June 2025.
In this poster, we show the characteristics of: centers and hospitals that, with many difficulties, offer acupuncture services in Spain; profiles of the professionals who practice it ; existing training programs; and the types of training offered at universities.
The goal is to provide a snapshot of acupuncture in Spain and how ICMART can help develop this important medicine, with knowledge of the situation in each country and within the framework of the European Parliament.
