FAFORMEC is made up of 15 associations of Acupuncturist Doctors in France, both national and regional. Created in 1997, it is part of the historical tradition of the reception of acupuncture by doctors in France during the 20th century. Its role is to represent continuing medical training in acupuncture in France.

FAFORMEC belongs to the National Professional Council of Acupuncture, bringing together the bodies of the profession, with the French College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (CFA-MTC), learned society of the profession, the SNMAF (National Union of Doctors Acupuncturists of France), the CEFAM (Collège des Enseignants Francophone d’Acupuncture Médicale) for university teaching and internship supervisors.
The ABMA is the oldest medical acupuncture society of Belgium.
The founding of our non-profit organization dates back to 1973 and we are, both for scientific research on medical acupuncture and for the preparation of the new legal status of acupuncture in Belgium, the privileged interlocutor of the authorities: ministries, future chambers of accreditation, mutual funds, medical academy, private insurance …
Each year, we devote significant sums to the professional defense and promotion of medical acupuncture in Belgium.
Abroad, it is also the ABMA which represents Belgium in all international acupuncture congresses to which we send a delegate. With the same concern for exchanges and harmonization, the program of our acupuncture school corresponds to the standards in force in other countries of the European Union.

Since 2003, the French College of Acupuncture (CFA-MTC) his the learned society of French acupuncture physicians , with 32 full and associate physician members.
Its main aims are to act as a reference and expert body for acupuncture and Chinese medicine among professional, university and social authorities, to carry out research into acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, to organize scientific meetings, publish scientific documents, edit books, award grants and awards for research on acupuncture and Chinese medicine, collect, manage and distribute documentation, and coordinate and exchange work with equivalent associations and structures in Europe and worldwide.
Among the works produced by CFA-MTC, particular attention is paid to tools useful in daily practice :
– Thirteen proposals for good practice recommendations on the risk of infection in acupuncture.
– Information sheet for acupuncture patients.
– Collaboration on INSERM (National Institute of Health and Medical Research)report: Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of acupuncture (2014).
– Collaboration with the French Speaking Association for Supportive Care in Cancer (AFSOS).: writing of an acupuncture in oncology referential, designed to provide clear, up-to-date information for patients and caregivers.
– A €1,000 award for a thesis, medical diploma or Inter-University Degree (DIU) dissertation on acupuncture.
