Hyperactivity and concentration problems : from theory to the acupuncture practice

Poster summary
The so-called hyperactive child is a child who suffers from “Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder”(ADHD), a clinical syndrome which associates difficulty staying focused and paying attention, impulsivity and motor hyperactivity.

This disorder is heterogeneous in its expression and its etiology, but its repercussions at school and psychosocial impacts canbe invalidating. The
disorder does not disappear in adolescence and continues through adulthood, requiring an extended support.

Therapy includes a combination of treatments. It is based on various types of psychotherapy, education or training, andmedication. In this context, we present the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) view about ADHD and the TCM place in the global care of patients, in particular through the practical contributions of acupuncture.
