Acupuncture treatment of skin diseases is not always easy, especially when an appropriate treatment for each patient is sought.

Skin diseases are usually analysed from climate energies (such as wind,cold, heat, humidity) but these elements however precious do not consider the patient himself, or the ground on which disorders occur.

Yet there is a way of considering the patient according to his constitution and temperament as described in chapter 64 (the 25 types of yin and yang human beings) and chapter 72 (Theknowledge of human nature in Lingshu).

Chapter 64 describes the different human types according to the 5agents (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) and chapter 72 based on energies (taiyang, shaoyang, taiyin, shaoyin, and the yin/yang balanced type which corresponds to yangming and jueyin). To these typologies we must add those of renmai and dumai, as they carry acupuncture points.

Thus are described patients’ different reaction modalities and the determination of a typology which thanks to careful observation and precise questioning makes it possible to choose a suitable point on the meridien corresponding to the typology found.

This method considerably reduces the number of points to be treated as well as the number of sessions for greater efficiency.
