Presentation summary
Introduction :
It was through Ling Ya HSU—an acupuncturist and instructor at the University Diploma of Acupuncture—introduced the use of Vaccaria seeds, affixed with a tiny adhesive patch and gently stimulated through massage on acupuncture points. Originally developed for infants and young children, this approach struck usas particularly meaning ful for all patients who are reluctant about needling.
While completely non-invasive, this method remains faithful to the full therapeutic logic of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and activate any of the body’s acupuncture points with precision and intention.
This innovative exploratory study sets out to evaluate the effectiveness of mechanically stimulating acupuncture points using Vaccaria seeds, specifically in alleviating symptoms of anxiety in children, adolescents, and adults.
Method :
We conducted a clinical observational study involving 27 patients and 74 “Vaccaria sessions”:
Group A: 17 children and adolescents presenting symptoms of anxiety
Group B: 6 adult women including one pregnant woman also treated for anxiety
Group C: 4 patients presenting functional symptoms that allowed for clear and measurable observation of outcomes
Results :
All areas of the body could be treated including the scalp and abdomen. Over the course of the study, 91different acupuncture points were used, underscoring the individualized nature of each session.
In nearly all of the 74 sessions, changes in the patient’s pulse and tongue were observed tangible signs ofshifting energetic patterns. These clinical observations were corroborated by clear symptomatic improvement on average after 3 sessions in both groups: those suffering from emotional distress (23 patients : anxietysymptoms), and those with functional complaints (4 patients).
Conclusion :
Since this study in 2017, more than 300 children and 6 adults have been treated using this method of acupuncture point stimulation via Vaccaria patches, a method we now refer to posthumously a …
