Presentation title
More than OB/GYN : Women’s Health is Improved by Acupuncture Therapy
Scheduled
Day 1, 11:15 / Day 1, 17:30
Presentation summary
In this keynote, Dr. Lisa Taylor-Swanson will discuss women’s health across
the lifespan – from pediatrics to geriatrics – and the disproportionate burden women experience compared to men. From stroke fatality to low back pain rates, autoimmune disease to anxiety and depression, fibromyalgia to migraine: these are women’s health issues. Acupuncture therapy is demonstrated to be effective or supportive for symptom management in many of these conditions. Dr. Taylor-Swanson will provide an overview
of the literature, current inpatient and outpatient practice, as well as gaps in our knowledge and thus future acupuncture research priorities. Highlights from Women’s Health Special Interest Group conversations from the 2025 Society for Acupuncture Research conference and future research priorities will also be discussed.
